Our shared life with St. John's Episcopal Church

The Union Congregational Church has been involved in a unique ecumenical relationship since 1970. At that time, we entered into an association with St. John's Episcopal Church. The two congregations share a building (known as the Mansface Church, for the Mansface Mountain which lies behind the church, and Mansface Street, on which the church is located) and the associated expenses and problems— but we also share much more.

Some of the shared life activities of the two churches include social functions, educational programs and worship services. Joint picnics, potluck dinners and birthday celebrations are but a few of the social activities. Vacation Bible School is conducted as a joint educational effort each year. Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Thanksgiving Services are worship activities that are often conducted together.

The relationship has continued and has been maintained by much hard work by many people since its inception, but we feel this can provide an uplifting and exciting opportunity for participation in our shared life.
